Every Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the Hudson Youth Center shifts its focus from activities of the purely athletic and physical to the more cerebral challenges of the game of chess. The new Chess Club was launched on January 30 and is building a steady following. The basic concepts and strategies are taught by Doug Pneuman, himself an accomplished player and dedicated teacher. The club is open to all age groups and currently has a number of future “grand masters” from grades 5 through 8.
